Local Area

  • Alpes Mancelle

    Carp Fishing in France
The Alpes Mancelle are about a 20 minute drive to the south east of L'Écurie. They form a picturesque and undulating landscape that some say resembles an alpine scene, hence the name .  It is a delightful area of beautiful villages and hills with little river valleys clad in woodland, heather and bloom.

There is some great barbel and chub fishing to be had, if you can tear yourself away from the carp fishing at L'Écurie!  You can also enjoy white water rafting, canoeing and hundreds of kilometres of walking trails.
  • Lassay-les-Châteaux

Carp Fishing in FranceLassay is a small vibrant market village, 10 minutes drive from L'Écurie . The village retains much of its original charm and character and is centered around the main village square where you will find small cafés, shops, a bank, and not forgetting the typically English pub, the Victor Hugo! It doesn't take anything away from the charm of the village and is a beautiful place to sit on a summers evening and soak up the ambiance over a glass of your favourite tipple.

Last, but certainly not least, is the main Châteaux itself dating back to the 15th century and can be found right in the heart of the village - definitely worth a visit.  It is open to visitors from spring time through to the end of September.
  • Bagnoles-de-l'Orne

Carp Fishing in France This is a healthy hedonistic town nestling in the heart of the Normandie-Maine Regional Natural Park. Visitors will discover the lake, weeping willows, fine bridges and the race course. Bagnoles-de-l'Orne is the perfect place to relax - from thermal springs to the winding paths of the Andaine forest, there are also many small restaurants and cafés that line the lake and the main boulevard.

There is a Casino situated on the lake for those of you that fancy a flutter.  I don't think you will be disappointed if you can find the time for a visit.
  • Domfront

Carp Fishing in France Here you will find the ruins of a medieval castle. The town itself was also fortified, and many of the towers still survive along with sections of the ramparts. Within the fortifications lies the old town, with narrow cobbled streets lined with half timbered houses and some grander townhouses, with plenty of cafés and open squares.

There is also the 11th century church of Nortre-Dame sur l'Eau which once formed part of the abbey, and was an important pilgrimage route and also played host to Richard the Lionheart and Eleanor of Aquitaine.  It is about 25-30 minutes away and, again, definitely worth a visit.
